Eulogy for EarthEulogy for Earth
Ladies and gentlemen, today we are here to grieve for a dear friend that is close to all of us. Though the Lord has not yet taken her away from us, she is in dire need of assistance. She has helped all of us all at one time or another, but now is our time to help her. The friend I am speaking of is Mother Earth.
In this land of infinite abundance, it is our nature to take without worry of consequences. But now where there was infinite abundance, we are left with devastation. The world is dying, and we are doing nothing to stop it.

because I’ve spent my whole life in the wilderness

You were not quite an ocean
when you said "This is your sign to love me."

I was metallic and sharp,
towering over your waters.
I remember taking your hand in mine,
conch and coral shells scrubbing
my skyscraper wrists, and laughing
about how one day you would
submerge every last bit of me.
Your lips, riddled with argonauts,
found my cheek and I cringed
at the coarseness.
You asked if they bothered me
and I finally told you "I
think I love you."
